Coaches have a significant impact on athlete development and the sporting environment, as they are responsible for managing, organizing, and developing individuals and resources. Effective coaching can motivate participants to engage in sports and improve emotional and skill development. Conversely, when coaches display ineffective behaviours, athletes' performance is adversely affected. Hence, it is immensely important for coaches to be aware of how they are presenting themselves in the training environment. The 'Spotlight' profiling tool was established by Mindflick to broaden how individuals perceive their own personality in order to thrive across situations without restricting their potential. This study explored the effectiveness of using Spotlight as a tool to enhance the culture of coaching staff, and correspondingly the team culture in the lead up to World Championships. Two coaching staff of the National Women’s Floorball team were invited to have their Spotlight profiles generated and have follow-up sessions with a Mindflick consultant and sport psychologist. Both staff had no prior working relationship and only the Head Coach had an existing relationship with the team. The culture of the coaching staff and the Women’s Floorball team were ascertained before and after introducing Spotlight through interviews with both staff and team captains as well as field observations. All respondents agreed Spotlight was able to enhance the culture of the coaching staff by providing a) a better understanding within the coaching staff and b) a platform for open communication to talk through preferences and how to manage each other’s blind spots. The team eventually maintained their previous World Championship performance.
