Introduction
Youth physical education serves as a vital pathway for implementing the educational philosophies of “prioritizing health,” playing a crucial role in students' holistic development. The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming teaching models and management practices in physical education. The Outline of the National Education Development Plan (2024–2035) emphasizes accelerating the informatization of physical education and promoting the deep integration of AI with education. This paper employs CiteSpace visualization analysis to explore the current state and developmental trends of intelligent youth sports education research in China, aiming to provide theoretical support for related studies and practices.
Methods
Literature Review Method: A search in the CNKI database using the keywords “youth physical education,” “artificial intelligence,” and “intelligent education” within the “Physical Education” discipline from 2014 to 2024 retrieved 212 documents, with 107 selected after screening. Visual analysis with CiteSpace 6.3.R1 focused on publication volume, author-institution collaboration, and keyword co-occurrence, emergence, and clustering, revealing the current state, evolving hotspots, and future development paths.
Results
Current state:(1) Publication volume: Rapid growth from 2015 to 2024, with explosive development in 2023 and 2024;(2) Author and institutional: Loosely connected collaboration networks, with core scholars and universities leading research.
Key trends:(1) Co-occurrence: High-frequency keywords like “artificial intelligence,” “physical education instruction,” and “elementary school physical education” are prominent;(2) Emergence: Research shifted from broad terms like “sports” and “physical education” to specific keywords like “intelligentization” and “youth,” showing deeper focus;(3) Clustering: Research forms multiple clusters, focusing on “artificial intelligence,” “physical education instruction,” “elementary school physical education,” and “sports.”
Future development:(1) Strengthening the ecological support system to integrate AI into sports education;(2) Enhancing educational stakeholders’ competencies to better integrate AI into sports education;(3) Clarifying educational value orientations to guide AI’s role in sports education;(4) Establishing ethical management mechanisms to ensure safety boundaries for AI-driven sports education.
Conclusions
