INTRODUCTION:
Mindfulness training, the core of college yoga courses, is vital for alleviating academic pressure and fostering psychological resilience. However, due to large class sizes, limited hours and insufficient teacher energy, personalized guidance on students' breathing, posture and mindfulness concentration is difficult to achieve. Mindfulness training thus becomes perfunctory, failing to deliver expected psychological adjustment effects.
METHODS:
Focusing on this teaching pain point, this study conducted practical exploration in a university public yoga course. An AI-assisted system was introduced, through which students received real-time, low-interference mindfulness guidance and feedback via a mobile phone and wireless earphones. Classroom observations, student self-assessments and semi-structured interviews were employed to gather user feedback, comprehensively analyzing the application effects, existing problems and improvement directions.
RESULTS:
Classroom practice and student feedback show that the AI system provides timely, precise interventions for disordered breathing, distracted attention, and posture deviation through subtitle prompts and low-volume voice guidance, without disrupting the tranquil yoga atmosphere. Most students reported that AI guidance helped them enter and maintain mindfulness more quickly, enhanced self-awareness and psychological adjustment autonomy, and improved classroom immersion. Teacher burden was also alleviated. Some students suggested optimization in speech recognition accuracy and personalized adaptation.
CONCLUSION:
This study demonstrates that AI-assisted mindfulness psychological adjustment has good feasibility and acceptance in college yoga courses. Its low-interference, personalized intervention mode aligns with the core spirit of yoga mindfulness—"focusing inward and returning to one's original nature"—and effectively compensates for traditional teaching shortcomings such as insufficient personalized guidance and perfunctory mindfulness training. This study provides an operable technical pathway for achieving coordinated physical and mental education in college physical education and offers practical reference for its digital transformation.
