Congress Venue

“Palais de Beaulieu” is a perfect venue for an International Congress of the size of ECSS. The main hall 1800 seats – and all other lecture halls (100-130 seats) are technically well equipped and are in close proximity.

There is ample space for the commercial exhibition, integrated with the catering facilities and the space for the poster exhibition.

Scientific Programme

The scientific programme will concentrate on four main topics. These topics will be introduced by a plenary session in which two keynote speakers and a chairperson will give an overview of the research state-of-the-art. The plenary session will be followed by invited parallel symposia which aim at providing the interdisciplinary context - Plenary Sessions (PLS).

A large number of additional invited and thematic sessions for free communication as well as three poster sessions will be offered. Together the scientific programme reflects the actual state of the art in Sport Sciences. [top]

Congress Language

The official Congress language is English. No simultaneous translation will be provided.

For Congress participants from Japan a Japanese Congress Hostess will be available to take care of needs of guests and accompanying persons. [top]

Social Programme

• Opening Reception on Wednesday evening, 5 July 2006.
• Visit Lausanne, 6 July 2006.
  Dinner-Show at Theatre Barnabé
  This is the official social evening of the Swiss Society for Sports Medicine offering an aperitive, the show and a dinner in a very special setting.
  This evening is sponsored by IBSA. A limited number of tickets is available for non-SGSM participants of ECSS on a first come first served bases.
  The cost of the evening is 55.00.-Euro or 80.00.-CHF.

Programme Specials

• IBM
  provides free access for all Congress participants to the Internet via an Internet Café in our Exhibition.
• Olympic Museum
  All participants and accompanying persons can visit the Olympic Museum free of charge. The bus line 2 takes you in less than 15 min from the "Palais de Beaulieu" directly to the "Olympic Museum".
• Rowing competition
  Each participant can enter a rowing competition running over the entire period of the Conference. Winners in each category will be rewarded. Menarini Rowing Contest
• TechnoGym
  is proud to offer to all Congress participants the opportunity to use a range of sophisticated TechnoGym Wellness Equipment over the entire Congress period (6th - 8th of July except during Plenaries). Expert instruction will be available.

Travel and Shuttle Service

Lausanne can easily be reached by plane, train or car. Lausanne is best reached via the Geneva airport which has a train station integrated. Trains to Lausanne take 40 minutes and leave twice per hour. The main train station in Lausanne is close to the Congress centre [Map of the city of Lausanne]. Lausanne can also be reached by car via the respective motorways. [top]

Switzerland offers many attractive sightseeing tours.
